Our School Senedd members were elected by their school friends and teachers to work together to voice their opinions and ideas on how we can improve our school.
Our Senedd form the following committees:
Our Senedd also help to promote our core values, our rights and responsibilities and take part in social action, planning events throughout the year to raise money for special charities and our school.
How have we made a difference this term?
Easter Egg Packaging Recycling
Our Senedd entered into an RCT competition to try to support reducing the extra waste we all create when the Easter bunny visits us with lots of delicious treats at Easter! Thank you to everyone who brought in their Easter egg packaging recycling - as you can see we have collected so much! ♻️
Kath and Kara, the Environmental Education Officers from Bryn Pica, came to school to weigh all the recycling we collected with a little help from some of our Senedd. We will hopefully hear soon if we have won a prize! 🤞🏼
WEAR BLUE FOR DEMENTIA DAY - WEDNESDAY 21st MAY
Our Senedd were told about the local campaign to 'Turn Ponty Blue' for Dementia awareness week. After discussing some ideas of how we could raise money and make a difference to people in our community with Dementia, they decided to plan a non-uniform day. On Wednesday 21st May the children came to school wearing something blue and were asked to make a donation to the cause.
In the afternoon, our Year 1 and 2 pupils then visited Tonteg Day Unit to sing to some of the dementia patients there and see the wonderful work the nurses and carers do in these types of centers to support the patients and their families.
Thank you to all of our families who donated to such a great cause. As a school, we raised £95 towards resources for the Tonteg Day unit. Our Senedd will be helping Mrs Peart to choose what resources to buy for the dementia patients that attend the Tonteg Day unit, making a difference in their own community.
