Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Trallwng Infants School  is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to ‘the non-compliances and exemptions’ listed below.

School exemption

  • Primary and secondary schools or nurseries - except for the content people need in order to use their services, for example a form that lets you outline school meal preferences.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

We are aware that some parts of this website are not fully accessible. These include:

  • Form fields that do not have programmatically defined purposes or labels (WCAG 2.1 AA 1.3.5, WCAG 2.0 A 1.3.1)
  • Touch targets that are too small or too close together on mobile devices (WCAG 2.2 AA 2.5.8)
  • Text and links that do not meet minimum contrast requirements or rely on color alone for meaning (WCAG 2.0 AA 1.4.3, WCAG 2.0 A 1.4.1)
  • Keyboard focus indicators that may be obscured by sticky headers or other elements (WCAG 2.2 AA 2.4.11)
  • Images that are missing alternative text or are not correctly marked as decorative (WCAG 2.0 A 1.1.1)
  • Drag-and-drop features that do not yet have accessible alternatives (WCAG 2.2 AA 2.5.7)
  • Animated content that cannot be paused or hidden (WCAG 2.0 A 2.2.2)
  • Pages that may not have descriptive titles or consistent navigation (WCAG 2.0 A 2.4.2, WCAG 2.0 AA 3.2.3)
  • Content structure that may not follow a meaningful reading order or consistent component labeling (WCAG 2.0 A 1.3.2, WCAG 2.0 AA 3.2.4)

We are working to address these issues as part of an ongoing accessibility improvement plan.

Disproportionate burden

We have assessed the cost and resource implications of fixing all known accessibility issues and believe that doing so would impose a disproportionate burden on the school at this time, particularly in the following areas:

  • Retrofitting older content and documents that are no longer in active use
  • Rebuilding complex interactive features (e.g. drag-and-drop tools) to meet full accessibility standards
  • Replacing third-party systems or templates that are not fully accessible and cannot be easily modified

We are committed to making our website as accessible as possible and will continue to address issues as resources allow. We will prioritise fixes that have the greatest impact on usability for disabled users.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

Our commitment to improvement and preparation of this accessibility statement

While schools are partially exempt from accessibility requirements for public sector websites, we must still ensure that essential content is accessible. Given this partial exemption, we believe we currently meet the government’s accessibility  requirements. However, we are committed to continually improving accessibility, as outlined earlier in this statement, to ensure an inclusive experience for all users.

Trallwng Infants School values diversity and inclusion and is committed to providing an accessible online experience for all members of our community. Your feedback is essential in helping us achieve this goal.
